Everyone should know who Helmut Newton is. He was the man behind the lens that set pages upon pages of Vogue (British, French and Australian editions) and Harper’s Bazaar fashion stories into the stratosphere between the 1950s and ’70s. His iconic, dark and twisted fantasies of models in black and white turned the industry on its head and ushered in a sexier, voyeur-esq wave of fashion photography.
Posthumously, Helmut’s work continues to be revered, as the work of the best often do long after they’re gone. His latest marvel? Helmut Newton: Polaroids, a new book released by Taschen, which features over 200 pages of candid test images (as was customary with non-digital photographers once upon a time ago) taken by the late Newton and never seen before. Whether you’re a sucker for fashion or photography, this book is a must-have addition to your library.
