Summer’s on the horizon with a full blast of sunshine, so you’re bound to see the latest festive, footwear on the sidewalk runways of New York to the tube system of London. Assorted colors and Ikat prints are everywhere! Just in time for your fix of fashionable footwear.

This season, a dab of comfort and reasonable pricing comes from one of the most talked about fashion collaborations this year. Aldo Retail stores announced its partnership with designer, Julian Louie, for a special release of 4 shoes for Spring 2011 during this past New York Fashion Week.

After first studying at Cooper Union for architecture, Louie found his way into the fashion world with internships both at Calvin Klein and Imitation of Christ – turning his keen eye for designing buildings into building attire. As a result Louie is best known for taking a structural and geometric approach to fashion design, using asymmetrical shapes to grab the eye, while still weaving in a soft, feminine feel to his clothing and shoes.

Aldo already has a history when it comes to great shoes and accessories, so joining forces with the young designer is a match made in fashion heaven.

The launch of the shoes were marked with a celebration at the Aldo flagship store in New York with Elle Creative Director and the event’s host Joe Zee, and too many shoppers and bloggers to name. Two of these new shoe creations, Deanna and Sobeslave – a four-inch wedge that comes in solid taupe and a tribal print mixed with olive green and brown – we set around the entire room. Deanna, was certainly the standout shoe amongst the new four. Similar to the Sobeslava, it has wedge heel and dominates the collection with bold blue and khaki enveloped in tribal print. Only available at select stores, the shoes are on sale for a worthy price of $125.

So what’s next for Julian Louie? He may continue his partnership with Aldo for the Fall/Winter 2011 collection, but as for everything else, we’re still digging… What we do know is that Louie may just be one of our favorite designers this summer!
