Winter is swiftly approaching, and what you’re rocking on your feet really does matter. Whether you’re going for a classic look or you just want to add a little edge while staying somewhat practical, these boots make our top winter 2011 gear list easy.

The Y-3 Drape is strictly for women, but this winter sneaker is tough enough to withstand certain weather-induced conditions. All leather, with detailed stitching provide support and a nice aesthetic, perfect for girls on the run. Price: $420, available at Y-3.com.

The Y-3 Desert Boot is perfect for men with a need to dress sharp while keeping it casual. Don’t let this sheep leather fool you. While the shoe looks strictly hard-bottom material, it’s flexible forefoot allows for high performance (within reason). Price: $420, available at Y-3.com.

The North Face

What’s winter without wearing The North Face anything? These Destiny Down boots by The North Face are probably our favorite snow stompers. Price: $110, available at TheNorthFace.com.

Sleek is in this winter, so consider copping the Camryn Boot to dress up your feet comfortably in extreme climates. While we wouldn’t suggest wearing these in the snow, these will carry you through the rain, sleet and mush. Price: $165, available at TheNorthFace.com.


Moncler’s St. Moritz is dapper don material. Made strictly for the men who want to step out and turn heads regardless of what’s happening with Mother Nature outside. All leather, plus a rubber gum sole and yes, that’s also the French flag…Price: $485, available at Moncler.com.


Rugged and raw, the classic stompers that ripped the streets circa the ’90s are making a comeback. Our faves from the new ASOLO collection? The Nike Zoom DK for winter 2011-2012 is sick to death. Designed by pro snowboarder Danny Kass, complete with a full ergonomic shell and warming Strobel technology, our favorite color sequence for this snowboarder’s Dunk inspired boot is the Black with Birch-Dark Khaki-Carmine (pictured above). Cole Haan

Cole Haan is totally having a revival and we like it a lot. The Air Grant 2 Eye Moc Boot buff/denim canvas moccasin is flexible, smooth and features Nike Air technology for maximum support and cushioning. Price: $178, available at ColeHaan.com.

The Pajar Grip Low (for him, left) and the Pajar Grip (for her, right) are 100 percent waterpoof, and feature wool lining and a leather and nylon exterior. Irregular Choice
